Benifits Of Yoga

As yoga is fundamentally an experiential, inner inquiry, students are encouraged both to be aware of checkpoints, and to explore how the posture feels and manifests in their body during any given yoga experience. It is this student-centered journey which is at the heart of the Gnostic (experiential) yoga tradition, and which should not be overshadowed by technical instructions.

World Conscious Yoga Family’s YTT programs in holistic and Akhanda Yoga include a balance of teaching, discussion and practice of six traditional paths: Hatha Yoga (techniques in kriya, asana, bandha, pranayama, mudra and meditation), Jnana Yoga (Vedanta philosophy and the concept of Oneness as the essential reality of the universe), Raja/Ashtanga Yoga (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras: mindfulness, meditation, and the eight-fold path), Mantra Yoga (the use of Vedic mantras for clarity and peace), Bhakti Yoga (kiirtan chanting, contemplation of devotional aphorisms and the attitude of surrender), and Karma Yoga (discernment of right action, and responsive versus reactive action). Vedic Mantra In India

Agni Hotra Education
The ashram performs Agni Hotra (fire puja) daily at 8:30AM in the Vedic tradition. We have handbooks with Vedic mantras in Romanized Sanskrit and the English translation. Residents and others wanting to join can experience and learn this valuable, ancient Indian ritual.

Yoga Education Scholarships
Every year the ashram offers scholarships to eligible students in need of assistance, and wishing to continue their yoga education. Some of these scholarships are given for yoga training with World Conscious Yoga Family, and some are given for study at Gurukul Kangri University for study in the Yoga Department.

To date, seven students have graduated from the WCYF 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course having received scholarships. Many have been offered jobs teaching yoga abroad since graduation; others have become full-time yoga teachers in their communities in India. To know more about Mantras Join and Contact Us .

Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram

Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh welcomes yoga practitioners who wish to reside at the ashram and take part in the daily yoga sadhana classes. We recommend a minimum stay of two weeks to derive benefit from the yoga lifestyle at the ashram, although we will accept requests for shorter stays. There are two yoga classes daily, three meals and time for journaling, contemplation and walks by the Ganges in the middle of the day.

Akhanda Yoga

Akhanda, similar to the word yoga in Sanskrit, means indivisible, unbroken tradition, entire, and whole. Akhanda is the first word of a very inspiring Vedic mantra, Akhanda mandala karam – This Cosmos and the manifest universe is one indivisible entity.

Yoga and Meditation

Yoga, since Indian Independence, has been in a process of cultural revival, in which yogis and academics have been literally and figuratively excavating yogic history, philosophy and techniques. There has also been a need to translate the meaning of yogic lore and practices for the modern Indian and international population. What does yoga mean for a practitioner living in the society of today, and in family life?
